Sunday 16th September 2018

12pm-1:30pm. Workshop 1. Introduction to musicality. We all have an idea of what it means to be musical, but what does it mean to be a musical dancer? Can one become a musical dancer without prior experience with dance or music? Can one deepen one’s musical sensitivity beyond a basic sense of rhythm? What does it mean to truly dance? In this workshop Veronica will give you a basic understanding of tango music and how it is expressed through movement. You will also get a better feeling of the difference between just moving your body and dancing to music. Veronica will take you through various layers of musical complexity, such as rhythm, tempo, phrasing and accents, using simple vocabulary of steps and pauses.

1:30pm-2pm. Break. Drinks and food can be ordered at the bar.

2:00pm-3:30pm. Workshops 2. A musical walk. Walking is considered to be the core element of tango, but walking together in close embrace especially is a technique that sometimes takes years to master. In this workshop we will revisit some of the basics of a comfortable walk, such as posture and grounding, but we will also specifically concentrate on how to use the music for a walk that is connected, smooth and aesthetical. If you participated in the previous workshops with Veronica some of the basic techniques in this one will ring a bell, but in dance we need to repeat things many times before our bodies integrate the new way of moving.

About Natasha & Harris

Natasha and Haris are internationally recognized teachers and dancers known for their connection, elegance, musicality, dynamics and quality. They both love social dancing specially the milonguero style. Their philosophy: "The most important thing in tango for us is the connection. We are crazy about technique but only as a medium to improve the connection and feelings that will allow us to adapt to every body and every style. We believe in dancing as one body with four legs, the centaur. Communication between us is the key for our tango. Listening to the leader is as important as listening to the follower. Open your mind, close the embrace"

More about Miriam & Dante

Miriam & Dante: "We have been working on our pedagogy over the last eight years and have developed a unique method for learning, using a lot of conceptual explanations as well as detailed technique and often some anatomical explanation. We have found certain ways of explaining both movements and body awareness which improve student's dancing and enjoyment significantly - we have also had the opportunity to study with some of the important maestros in Buenos Aires and have adapted and adjusted key concepts based on our own twelve years of dancing experience and professional training. Our backgrounds and our trajectory are quite different from most dance couples and this has given us a unique pedagogical approach - which we are always excited to share with our students. Our teaching approach has been described as inspiring, warm and constructive and we enjoy discovering the best way to analyse your movements and clearly explain technique to each individual student in the best way for them. We look forward to sharing our your tango journey with you!"
